Rockport Top-Down Shell

When I lived in Massachusetts, Rockport was one of my favorite towns to visit. Situated on the coast, it was charming and full of interesting old buildings and shops, which I loved to explore. This shell reminds me of my visits to a friend in Rockport – easy-going, comfortable, and a great fit. It’s shaped at the waist, but if you prefer a less curvy fit, leave out the waist and hip shaping, and just work straight from the armholes.

This shell is worked from the top down, beginning at the back shoulders. The back is worked to the armholes, then placed on hold while the front is picked up from the back shoulders and worked to the armholes. Then the back and front are joined and the body is worked to the bottom edge.
